Intelligent signal lighting system for uncontrolled pedestrian crossings
An AI-based signaling and alerting system enhances pedestrian safety at unregulated crossings. This intelligent system detects when a pedestrian is approaching and automatically activates lights in the crossing area area, as well as LED lighting on the signs. Notifications for drivers are displayed on boards installed 150 meters before the crossing, making the solution cost-efficient due to its compatibility with existing road infrastructure.
The deployment of this system has led to a reduction of more than 70% in traffic accidents at high-risk pedestrian crossings.
After installing the Smart Crossing in New Moscow, drivers started yielding to pedestrians in 8 out of 10 cases, and there have been no pedestrian-related traffic incidents at the equipped crossing.
