Traffic Enforcement Cameras Enhance Road Safety in the Leningrad Region

31.03.2025

In 2024, Urbantech Group installed nearly 500 new traffic enforcement cameras for detecting traffic violations on federal and regional roads in the Leningrad Region. Additionally, as part of government procurement projects, the company equipped 37 accident-prone road sections with these systems. This initiative not only strengthened the enforcement of traffic rules but also significantly improved road safety in the region.

The total number of traffic accidents in the Leningrad Region decreased by 5.4% in 2024, while the number of injuries fell by 9.4% compared to 2023. Notable improvements were seen in accidents involving children, with such incidents dropping by 7.6%, and the number of fatalities and injuries among children decreasing by 50% and 13.5%, respectively. The effectiveness of the system was evident in the initial months of operation, leading to plans to expand the number of cameras to 550.

“Enhancing road safety is one of the key priorities for the Government of the Leningrad Region. To reduce accidents, fatalities, and injuries on our roads, we have expanded the network of stationary traffic enforcement cameras. In 2024, we deployed a system of 496 cameras, 450 of which are state-of-the-art Azimut 4 units produced by the Russian company Urbantech,” emphasized Denis Sedov, Chairman of the Road Facilities Committee for the Leningrad Region.
