20.11.2024

On November 19, Urbantech Cable Transport (part of the Urbantech Group) signed a cooperation agreement for technological transportation in the city of Sochi during the 18th Transport of Russia International Forum and Exhibition. The agreement was signed by Vyacheslav Bauer, the Deputy Mayor of Sochi, and Andrey Denisenkov, the CEO of Urbantech Cable Transport.

“Sochi continues to develop rapidly, making infrastructure modernization a top priority for us. The city’s challenging terrain means that establishing connections in mountainous microdistricts with high population density via cableways could be a very promising approach. The agreement, signed on behalf of Sochi’s Mayor Andrey Proshunin, has the potential to create new opportunities for the comprehensive development of a new transportation environment, enhance residents’ well-being, drive further socio-economic growth, and strengthen Sochi’s tourism potential,” emphasized Vyacheslav Bauer, the Deputy Mayor of the city.

The primary focus of the agreement is to identify priority routes and forms of collaboration that support the implementation of Sochi’s socio-economic development strategy, including the adoption of advanced transportation solutions.

“We see huge potential and high efficiency in using cableways as a solution for local transportation for both residents and visitors of the Sochi resort. Cableways are gaining popularity in cities around the world because they are the safest, most eco-friendly, quietest, and most terrain-efficient mode of transport, with minimal impact on people and the environment. Our experience in developing similar projects in other Russian cities enables us to make optimal offers focused on enhancing transportation for both residents and tourists,” said Andrey Denisenkov, the CEO of Urbantech Cable Transport.

Urbantech Cable Transport and the Sochi city administration are expected to work together on a comprehensive study of Sochi’s transportation and urban planning characteristics. This study aims to identify promising cableway routes based on passenger flow analysis.
